Our Former First Lady

Evangelist  & Missionary

Mamie M. (McDaniel) Johnson

Mother Mamie Johnson

Mamie Johnson is the daughter of the late Superintendent, Elder George W. McDaniel. She is the wife of Superintendent Elder Samuel Johnson Sr., Pastor of the Rescue Temple Church of God in Christ. Pastor and Mother Mamie Johnson recently celebrated 61 years of marriage on September 10, 2006.

Mother Mamie is the Mother of seven children, six sons and one daughter. Pastor and Mother Johnson have 15 grandchildren and 8 great-grand children.

Mother Mamie Johnson works and serves in the church and the community faithfully. She has served as Sunday School Teacher, Sunshine Band Leader, and is one of the Lead Soloists in the Rescue Temple Church Choir. 'Sister Mamie' is well known for her anointed voice singing songs of Praise unto the Lord. Her words of inspiration to the choir members are "Remember, only what you do for Christ will last" ... She is presently serving with the Prison Ministry, Nursing Home Ministry, as President of the Benevolent Communion, Deaconess and Chair-Lady for the Communion Team, Vice-President of the Mothers' Board. and has served as Leader of the Wednesday Noon-Day Prayer Service for many, many years.

Mother Mamie Johnson truly exemplifies the Virtuous Woman described in Proverbs 12:4, & 31:10. "A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband, (she is most definitely a crown to Pastor Johnson)....."For her price is far above rubies. She will do him good, and not evil, all the days of her life. She openeth her mouth to wisdon, and her tongue is the law of kindness. Her children rise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and praiseth her. Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who feareth the Lord shall be praised. Give her of the Fruit of her hands, and let her own work praise her in the gates."
